Carol A. Cook, 81, of Seneca, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2018 at Oakwood Heights in Oil City after a month-long illness.

Carol was born on April 10, 1936 in Parker.  She was the daughter of the late Raymond F. “Doug”  and Dorothy M. Shay Matthews.  Carol was raised in Perryville, Clarion County, and graduated in 1954 from Parker High School.

Carol retired from the food service department of Oil City High School in 1988.  In her earlier years, Carol attended the Oakland United Methodist Church.   She enjoyed annual fishing trips to Canada, various cruises and occasional outings to the casino.

Mrs. Cook was married in Winchester, Virginia on August 27, 1955 to Dennis Bruce Cook of Perryville. The couple recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.

Carol is survived her husband, Bruce, of Seneca; four children, Julie Cook of Oil City, Mike Cook and his wife, Diana “Sis” of Franklin, Natalie Roberts of Oil City and Laura Cook of Grove City;  four grandchildren, Matt, Kayla and Kyle Cook and Eric Roberts; a great grandson, Brenden; a brother, Albert Brent Matthews of Erie, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

A private visitation and funeral service officiated by the Rev. John Emigh, pastor of the Oakland United Methodist Church are under the direction of the Hile-Best Funeral Home Inc., 2781 Rt. 257, Seneca, Cranberry Twp.  Interment will be in Lamey Cemetery.  Memorials in Mrs. Cook's memory may be made to The Venango County Humane Society, PO Box 1045, Oil City, PA 16301.
