Bruce E. Pond

October 15, 1928 ~ July 24, 2016 (age 87) 87 Years Old


             Bruce E. Pond, 87, of Shaffer Run Road, Reno, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday evening, July 24, 2016.

            He was born in Johnsonburg, Elk County, on October 15, 1928 to the late George A. and Dorothy (Carlquest) Pond. 

            Mr. Pond served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948 through 1953, attaining the rank of staff sergeant. 

            He was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Seneca. 

            Bruce enjoyed hunting and fishing in his earlier years, and most recently passed  time whittling wooden canes. 

            Mr. Pond worked many years as a painter, and also worked for Motion Control in Ridgway where he manufactured brake shoes and assisted with maintenance.  

            He was married in Ridgway in 1950 to the former Evelyn M. Walker, and she survives. 

            Also surviving are thirteen children:  Sandy McHolland and husband Claire, Barbara Pond, Suzie Pond, Sherry Pond, Cindy Short and husband Alan, Bruce Pond, Jr., Bruce Pond and his wife Linda, Christine Merritt and husband Ken, Chris Pond, Patrick Faulk, Margaret Banks and husband Luke, Carol Bernard and husband Todd, and Billy Faulk and wife Cheryl; his grandchildren include Levi, Heather, Jennifer, Paula, Donny, Brian, Michael, Tim, Mikey, Jeremy, Matt, John, Jaime, Chris, Danny, Alex, Kyle, Jessica, Benjamin, Patrick, Shawn, Ryan, and Samantha; 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. 

            Two sisters survive, Chickie and Suzanne; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

            In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Kimberly Moser and Brian Faulk; a sister, Joan; and two brothers, Sonny and Eugene. 

            There will be no visitation or funeral service held.  The Hile-Best Funeral Home in Seneca, Cranberry Township is completing funeral arrangements. 

            Memorial contributions may be made to the Venango County Humane Society, 286 South Main Street, Seneca, PA  16346.
