Betty J. Geer

October 24, 1930 ~ August 15, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old


            Betty J. Geer, 86, of Venus, Pinegrove Township, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, August 15, 2017 at Oakwood Heights in Oil City. 

            She was born October 24, 1930 in Niles, Ohio, a daughter of the late Rollin Robert and Glendora (Rohrbaugh) Painter. 

            Betty enjoyed going to yard sales, and crocheting.  She was a dedicated homemaker to her family. 

            She was married in Iola, Kansas on June 12, 1949 to Kenneth V. Geer, Sr.  They were married 49 years before he preceded her in death on November 13, 1998.

            Surviving are seven children:  Diane Switzer and her husband Larry of Franklin, Kenneth Geer and his wife Linda of Chambersburg, Peggy Martyna of Mercer, Donna Beckwith of Franklin, Dave Geer and his wife Iris of Meadville, Mondell Geer and his companion Jennifer Crawford of Seneca, and Rose Hale and her husband Wally of Venus; twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren (with one more on the way), and two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

            In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Johnny and Ricky Geer; a son-in-law, Walt Martyna; three grandchildren; her brothers, Leland, Frank, Robert, and Raymond Painter; and her sisters, Ruth Cramer, Bertha Toth, and Edna Jones.  Betty was the last surviving member of her immediate family. 

            A private viewing and funeral service will be held for the immediate family.  Interment will be in Fertigs Cemetery, Pinegrove Township. 

            The Hile-Best Funeral Home in Seneca, Cranberry Township is completing funeral arrangements. 

            Betty's family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the nurses and staff, especially Carrie Last, at Oakwood Heights for providing exceptional care and comfort to their mother during her stay there.
