Audrey J. Hutchinson

Audrey Julia Hutchinson, 95, of Rainbow Road in Polk passed on to her Lord and Savior at her home on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 1:25 p.m.

 

Born May 14, 1921, in Brooklyn, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Simpson and Rebecca (McCoy) Rutherford of Oil City.  On August 18, 1939, she married Willard (Bill) Hutchinson who preceded her in death on February 6, 1986.

 

Audrey graduate from Oil City High School and was employed at Polk Center for 26 years, retiring as a dietary supervisor in 1984.  She was a member of the Polk Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder and as the Clerk of Session for 25 years.  She also was a member of the Polk Presbyterian Women’s Association and Missionary Society.

 

Audrey was a 51-year (2016) member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Lady Worth Rebekah Lodge #328 of Jackson Center.  Lady Audrey was Past President of the Department Association of the Ladies Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant of Pennsylvania #98 when selected to carry a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington D.C..   In addition, she received the Jewell for the Degree of Chivalry in 2004.  She was also a member of the Supreme Royal Zuanna Ladies of the Orient and the Ladies Encampment Association.  She served on the Board of Directors for three of the Odd Fellows Homes: the Western Home Association, the Odd Fellows Home of Western PA and Orchard Manor.  She also served as a former vice-president of the Franklin Women’s Club and received the Gold Star Award for Woman of the Year from the Presbyterian Homes Association.

 

Audrey enjoyed playing in numerous card clubs, embroidering keepsakes for her family, reading, traveling, enjoying her grandchildren’s events and spending time with her family.  

 

She is survived by four children: Barbara Krizinsky and her husband Frank of Polk; Catherine Bell of Franklin; Helen McAvoy and her husband James of Titusville; and Sue Smith of Polk; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 10 great great-grandchildren.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her three bothers; Eugene, Kenneth, and Harold Rutherford; her son Eugene Hutchinson of Franklin; one grandchild and one great-grandchild. 

 

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, November 25th, at the Hile - Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township.  The funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26th at the funeral home with the Rev. Michael James McAvoy, Audrey's grandson, officiating.  A memorial service for Audrey’s interment at Old Sandy Cemetery will be announced at a later date.
