Albert C. Dickey

October 17, 1931 ~ August 24, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old


             Albert C. Dickey, 85, of Fryburg, died Thursday evening, August 24, 2017 at UPMC Hamot in Erie. 

            He was born in Wishaw, Winslow Township, Jefferson County on October 17, 1931 to the late Reed Albert and Julia (Maksym) Dickey. 

            He attended a one room schoolhouse in Wishaw;  and later, in his teenage years, worked in the coalmines. 

            Mr. Dickey was employed as a pipefitter, and worked in the boiler house at the Pennzoil Refinery in Rouseville for thirty-three years.

            Albert enjoyed the companionship of his dog "Pup," vegetable gardening, mowing the lawn, watching old western movies, and cooking. 

            He was married in Reynoldsville on July 19, 1951 to the former Joan R. Wise, and she preceded him in death on November 22, 1978.

            Surviving are five children:  Paula M. Mahle and her husband Michael of Fryburg, Jeffrey A. Dickey of McKinney, Texas, Wesley A. Dickey and his wife Trish of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Glen Dickey and his wife Diana of Oil City, and Joyce Bisco and her husband Frank of Stow, Ohio; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. 

            Also surviving are four sisters, Mary Lou Heller of East Stroudsburg, Althea Crawford of Falls Creek, Verna Mae Martz of Reynoldsville, and Bonnie Moyer of Quakertown; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

            In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Hazel Jones, Mertle Crafton, and Cass Thrush; and a brother, Morris Dickey. 

            Friends and family will be received Sunday (Aug. 27th) from 2 - 4 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township.  No funeral service will be held.  Private interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens in Cranberry. 

            In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in Albert's memory to the Venango County Humane Society, 286 South Main St., Seneca, PA  16346.
